Hot in Cleveland is TV Land's first original scripted series, which began June 16, 2010. The show stars
Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick, and Betty White. Since Betty's schedule was tight with her reality show "Off Their Rockers" she was only going to appear as a guest for the series pilot for Hot in Cleveland. The series was picked up for ten more episodes, and Betty agreed to stay on board. Hot in Cleveland is now in it's sixth season.
Valerie Bertinelli plays Melanie Moretti, a writer and divorced mother of two college kids named Will and Jenna. Wendie Malick is Victoria Chase, an Emmy Award-winning soap opera star whose show of 27-years "Edge of Tomorrow" was canceled. Victoria was divorced 6 times and is enemies with Susan Lucci. Jane Leeves plays an English beautician from Beverly Hills named Joy Scroggs. She had a son, Owen, when she was 15, but put him up for adoption.
The three women who are over the age of 40, hop aboard a plane headed to Paris for a girls only celebration. However, the plane unexpectedly lands in Cleveland and the women decide to rent a house together from a sassy Polish caretaker named Elka Ostrovky, played by Betty White. Elka has escaped from the Nazis, and has a late husband with mob connections. Elka is very judgmental toward the woman, especially Joy.
Some of the special guest to have appeared on "Hot in Cleveland" are, Tim Conway, Don Rickles, Carl Reiner, Joan Rivers, Regis Philbin, Huey Lewis, Susan Lucci. Mary Tyler Moore, Ed Asner, and many more.
In January 2011, Betty received a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her role as Elka Ostrovsky in Hot in Cleveland.
Hot in Cleveland won the People's Choice Award in 2012, 2013, and 2014 for Favorite Cable TV Comedy.

Hot in Cleveland: Season Six Renewal for TV Land Series

TV Land has renewed their Hot in Cleveland sitcom for a a sixth season of 24 episodes. The fifth season is currently airing and is expected to run through the summer and finish in September.

Los Angeles, CA – May 1, 2014 – TV Land’s hit sitcom “Hot in Cleveland” has been renewed for 24 episodes for a sixth season, it was announced today by Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land. The announcement was made during rehearsal for the series’ upcoming landmark 100th episode, entitled “Win Win,” which tapes this Friday, May 2nd. “Hot in Cleveland” stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and Betty White, and is currently airing its fifth season on Wednesdays at 10pm ET/PT on TV Land.
“There’s instant magic when our cast, writers and crew get together for each episode,” said Jones. “We’re so excited to be reaching these milestones and can’t wait to see what lies ahead in ‘Cleveland.'”
“Hot in Cleveland” is averaging 2.6 million total viewers since its launch (Source: Nielsen, Premieres Only, 6/16/10-4/23/14). The series revolves around three fabulous best friends from LA – Melanie Moretti, Joy Scroggs, and Victoria Chase (Bertinelli, Leeves and Malick) – who find their lives changed forever when their plane, headed for Paris, makes an emergency landing in Cleveland. When the friends discover that life is better in Cleveland, they decide to stay. Starting over together, they rent a house that happens to come with a very opinioned caretaker, Elka Ostrovsky (White).
“Hot in Cleveland” is executive produced by Emmy(R) Award-winner Sean Hayes (“Will And Grace”) and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills Productions and is helmed by Emmy(R) Award- winning Suzanne Martin (“Frasier,” “Ellen”) serving as executive producer, show runner and writer. Lynda Obst also serves as executive producer, and Larry W. Jones and Keith Cox are executive producers for TV Land. “Hot in Cleveland” is currently seen around the world in 211 countries, and will begin airing in syndication through CBS Television Distribution in September 2014.

“Hot in Cleveland,” which last month celebrated its 100th episode, will come to a close after Season 6, which is currently in production.
“After five incredible seasons of ‘Hot in Cleveland,’ the sixth season, currently in production, will be its last,” Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land said in a statement on Monday. “It’s been an honor to work with Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and the incomparable Betty White as well as our executive producers Suzanne Martin, Todd Milliner, Sean Hayes and the rest of our exceptional writers, production team and crew.”
“The passion and talent they brought to the set each and every week over the past 5 years has put TV Land on the map as a network dedicated to quality original programming,” he added. “We will continue to celebrate the show and are looking forward to a fantastic series finale.”
Since its launch, “Hot in Cleveland” has averaged 2.4 million total viewers. In domestic syndication — which exists in 96 percent of the country — the comedy gets an average audience of 1.1 million total viewers. -
