The History of Bets' Pets
Many years ago back in the 50's a young fan named Barbara Guthrie started a Betty White Fan Club. The club has remained loyal to Betty for all of these years, and was supportive throughout her career. When Barbara became Betty's secretary in 1971, the club continued with a new president, Betty's long time friend Kay Daly. Kay was a busy forth grade teacher yet found the time to run the club. Our group went beyond the usual idea of a fan club. We welcomed all ages, although most of our members were adults, our common interest being Betty and her activities particularly her work with and love for animals.
Because of her interest in animals, Betty asked the club to be animal-oriented.
In spring of 2014, I offered to help Kay continue on when running the club became overwhelming for her. I enjoyed putting together this website and blog filled with Betty's activities, animal facts, zoo fun, and more.
On November 2, 2015, Betty and Kay had decided to jointly end Bets’ Pets, as Betty would like the official club to end with Kay’s retirement as President. Below is a letter from Betty, written to our Bets' Pets club members.

President -Kay Daly
Kay Daly has been the president of the Bets' Pets Official Betty White Fan Club since 1971. At the time, Kay was a busy fourth grade teacher, and still managed to run the fan club. She knew Betty since the 1940's and has been a close personal friend of hers ever since. Kay and Betty get together every year for lunch. They enjoy talking about everything. Kay enjoys going to tapings of Betty's shows that have an audience and attending the public appearances she does locally. She also finds it wonderful to attend some of the awards and honor ceremonies, including Betty's Big 90th Birthday Celebration.
Since Kay has retired from her teaching job, she has remained active with our club, and many other clubs as well. Kay works for her club for Dinah Shore, and for the Basset Hound Club of Southern California as a Corresponding Secretary. She has also been doing some volunteer work for the Basset Hound Rescue Ranch to help the dogs being taken care of and find new homes for them. This is a five-acre site a bit north of L.A. that has a large kennel area and space for large fenced yards where the Bassets can play or hang out during the day.
Kay owns, breeds, and shows Basset Hounds. She recently had her female Basset Sippy entered in the show in Ventura along with her friends Basset Lulu.
Kay enjoys working in her garden, and enjoys surfing, and playing games on her computer, even though she admits, it sometimes becomes a distraction.
