The zoo guest stood near by as the members of our Brookfield AAZK Chapter took a group photo in honor of Betty White Day for August 18.
On August 18, 2012, Governor Pat Quinn proclaimed it as Betty White Day, when the actress came to Illinois in support of BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding and Educational Center held in Hinsdale. Betty has been a huge supporter of animal health and welfare for over 40 years. Since the 1970's, Betty has been on the Board of Directors for the Greater Los Angeles Zoo, and the President Emerita for the Morris Animal Foundation.
The Morris Animal Foundation's funding has helped companion animals, horses, and wildlife through their continuance work with veterinary medicine and research. Their work has included, diagnosing and managing infectious diseases in cats and dogs, safer anesthesia for giraffes and rhinos, and veterinary care for mountain gorillas, and California sea otters. Betty White has dedicated her life to helping animals through the Morris Animal Foundation and other animal organizations. So why not continue to make August 18, Betty White Day in Illinois.
Our Brookfield AAZK (American Association of Zoo Keepers) Chapter is made up of Brookfield Zoo staff, volunteers, and zookeepers. We are dedicated to zoo keeper professional growth, enhancing animal care, promoting public awareness, and contributing to conservation through fundraising and stewardship.
